Protecting current and future energy and utilities infrastructure
Discover more

The energy transition is here. In addition to the rise of renewable energy, green hydrogen and nuclear power, we’re seeing the emergence of carbon capture, utilisation and storage technologies, and sophisticated liquefied natural gas value chains.

At the same time, ongoing digitalisation – including new smart grids and networked grid components – means growing IT/OT convergence in energy operations.

But all this innovation creates both cyber and physical threats. New production, transportation, storage and distribution systems generate fresh safety risks. Meanwhile, stakeholders must protect hyper-connected systems from cyber threats, while also securing legacy infrastructure.

Our impact

With over three decades of experience protecting Airbus’ complex systems, Airbus Protect has an in-depth understanding of critical infrastructure and industrial systems. We’re trusted by our energy and utilities clients, helping them achieve their safety and sustainability goals and boost their cyber resilience.

Safety

Our safety expertise spans the entire energy infrastructure lifecycle, from implementing “secure by design” principles to ongoing maintenance and dismantling.

Our expert teams apply global risk assessment methodologies throughout the energy value chain – production, transportation, liquefaction, gas treatment, storage and more. What’s more, we’re committed to helping our clients build systems with lower lifecycle costs. This mindset is at the core of all our activities – whether executing permitting dossiers, safety analysis or consequence modelling.

Cybersecurity

We offer end-to-end security services for the energy and utilities sectors, centred around four pillars – identify, protect, detect and respond.

Our experts help organisations identify how to boost their cyber maturity and are well-versed in all relevant regulations – EU 2019/553, EU 2019/941, EU 2019/943, GDPR, NIS2 and more.

After conceptualising the right solution, our team protect systems and infrastructure with highly tailored architecture design and integration services, as well as crisis and SecOps management. We also provide network, data and endpoint security for remote sites – including production plants, dams, distribution networks and meters – through our wholly owned subsidiary Stormshield.

Energy operations require a specialist team to detect cyber threats. Our security operations centre (SOC) professionals understand electricity applications (SCADA, Simulation, DMS, GMS) and industrial protocols. Should the worst happen, our DFIR team is on hand to respond to incidents, enabling our clients to keep critical systems running and prevent attacks from reoccurring.

Sustainability

Developing a robust sustainability strategy in the energy and utilities sector is complex. We adopt a holistic approach, considering each operational element (from process mapping to reporting) and applying key principles of the circular economy.

To support this, our ISO 26000-compliant consultants have an in-depth understanding of energy operations, ESG reporting frameworks and sustainable development legislation.
