Customer Success Story: EU Institutions and Agencies (EUIBAs)

How Airbus Protect helped securing the European Union

How Airbus Protect secures the future of European governance: a success story

European Institutions, Bodies and Agencies form the backbone of the Union’s administrative and political landscape. In an increasingly volatile digital world, the security of these organisations is paramount to maintaining the continuity of European public services and the integrity of democratic processes. Facing a rapidly changing and complex cyber threat landscape, ensuring the resilience of these institutions is not just a technical requirement, but a strategic necessity. Enters Airbus Protect.

Customer need: a comprehensive framework for diverse cyber needs

To manage the evolving digital risks, the EUIBAs required a solution that could cover the full spectrum of their cybersecurity needs through a streamlined process. Key challenges included:

  • Universal Coverage: Providing comprehensive cybersecurity support for 17 distinct EU Institutions, Bodies and Agencies under a single structure.
  • Enhanced cyber maturity: This strategic initiative not only responds to the urgent cybersecurity needs of these organisations, but also enables them to achieve greater maturity in their cybersecurity practices.
  • Standardisation: Aligning all security services to the four core NIST categories (Identify, Protect, Detect, and Respond) to ensure a high and consistent standard of defense.
  • Operational Efficiency: Moving away from fragmented procurement to a simplified, single point of contact for all cyber topics.

Our Solution: The EUCyber Framework Contract

From 2017 to 2025, Airbus Protect has been entrusted with the EU Cyber Program, a large-scale framework contract designed to provide the EUIBAs with a single, reliable point of contact for all cybersecurity requirements.

Airbus Protect’s framework delivers a full range of services meticulously aligned with the NIST framework:

  • Identify: Cyber maturity assessments and governance, threat intelligence, penetration testing, and security audits.
  • Protect: Product testing, proof of concept for new technologies, and engineering support.
  • Detect: 24/7 SOC design and operation, and continuous cyber operations support.
  • Respond: Incident response, forensic analysis, and business continuity planning.

The solution is powered by a dedicated customer portal that simplifies contracting and monitoring, granting the EUIBAs access to a catalog of over 2,000 cyber products and a network of 140 specialised suppliers.

Customer benefit: resilience everywhere in Europe

By partnering with Airbus Protect, the European Union Institutions, Bodies and Agencies have significantly strengthened their security posture:

  • Streamlined Governance: A single framework contract provides a unified point of contact, greatly simplifying the management of complex cybersecurity needs.
  • Bespoke Services: Institutions receive tailored cybersecurity services that address their specific operational risks while benefiting from preferential rates on a vast catalogue of products.
  • Expert Integration: Access to a pool of highly skilled Service Integrators and industry-leading experts ensures that the EUIBAs stay ahead of emerging threats.

Scalable Capacity: The ability to deliver these services “everywhere in Europe” ensures that all participating agencies, regardless of location, maintain the same high level of cyber resilience.
